Week 2: Tweak our Systems!

GREAT JOB finishing week ONE everybody! I am so thrilled that you finished and you came back! Please keep up the hard work in week 2! We are just starting to have some fun! I can't wait to hear how things went! I LOVED IT! I am feeling lighter, and freed from the ball and chain of my constant snacky snacks and soda cup! Tell me all about your experiences!   WELCOME TO WEEK 2 "TWEAK OUR SYSTEMS!"  

Week 2 is all about tuning up and streamlining our SYSTEMS!! Let's forget about big lofty goals right now and work on the systems that will get us there. I am so excited about this week! We will work on 3 areas. 

1. Decluttering a physical space in your room, office or home. 

2. Cleaning up some space in your day for inserting good habits. 

3. Addressing the distracting or painful thoughts that clutter up your mind.

You can do a little in all 3 areas or choose which one(s) you need to polish up the most.  Just make sure you work on something every day this week to GET POINTS! Give yourself a point for every day you work on any of these. All the information is on the video below and also there is an audio link HERE

Tweak the system and declutter: 

 

“Forget about GOALS, focus on systems instead!” This was said by James Clear, the author of Atomic Habits and I’ve never heard more beautiful words in my life! As an adult, the word GOALS has usually depressed me! It was like a set-up for failure and then beating myself up for being a LOOOOOSER!!! We have all set goals and failed them. Maybe we succeeded sometimes. But then what? 

 

The cartoonist behind the Dilbert comic, Scott Adams, explained to Clear that “Goals are about results you want to achieve and systems are about the processes that lead to those results. Think about this. “Winners and losers have the same goals!” and “Achieving a goal is only a momentary change.”  We are focused on changing the results, but often those results are fleeting, even if we do get there. Creating good habits, and ridding ourselves of old ones is far more effective, doable and long lasting when we do them at the systems levels. “Fix the inputs and the outputs will fix themselves.” 

 

Sadly, sometimes we completely set ourselves up for disappointment with goals because we assume incorrectly that once we reach the goal THEN we will be happy. We spend our lives anticipating happiness instead of finding it IN THE JOURNEY. “When you fall in love with the process rather than the product, you don’t have to wait to give yourself permission to be happy. You can be satisfied any time your system is running. And a system can be successful in many different forms, not just the one you first envision.” (Clear). 

 

“You do not rise to the levels of your goals. You fall to the level of your systems!”

 

So what system do you have in place? WAIT… we gotta go one level deeper!
